Education, B.A. - Pre-K thru 4th/Special Ed

Program Description

La Salle University’s Early Elementary and Special Education program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Successful completion leads to a recommendation for Instructional I certification in both Early Elementary Education (PK–4) and Special Education (PK–12). Students may also take an additional exam to extend the Early Elementary certification through grades 5 and 6. Early Elementary/Special Education majors complete a dual program of study designed to prepare them to teach in diverse and inclusive classrooms, meeting the developmental and academic needs of all learners.

Why Take This Major?

This dual certification program prepares future educators to work in a wide range of classroom settings, including general education, inclusion, and special education. With the growing demand for teachers who can meet the needs of diverse learners, graduates of this program are highly sought after in schools both locally and globally. By combining expertise in early childhood with specialized training in supporting students with disabilities, graduates are uniquely positioned to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
